Subsonic Ammunition

A rifle fitted with a moderator, only suppresses the blast caused by the escaping gasses from the muzzle. For the rifle to be almost completely silent, it must use subsonic ammunition. (That is the velocity must below the speed of sound.)

Unless the barrel has been replaced with one of a fast twist, long heavy projectiles are not recommended. These projectiles will not stabilize in a standard barrel and will prove to be inaccurate and poor game killers.

Precision Reloading Services produces a range of calibers and loads that prove to be accurate and good game killers. The projectiles used are designed to expand at lower velocities.

The following loads are usually available ex stock on new cases.
308 Win 170gr FN 30-30 Win 170gr FN
30-06 Spring 170gr FN 270 Win 140gr HPBT

WARNING! There is no guarantee that these subsonic loads will cycle an automatic rifle. Do not attempt to fire a second round until a clear bore has been confirmed. If the barrel is not clear, the barrel will be bulged or split if another round is fired. No responsibility will be accepted.

Other calibres and requirements are manufactured to specific requests. Client’s fired cases may also be reloaded to manufacture subsonic loads.
