P.R.S. specialises in load development. A box of twenty rounds is loaded with the chosen projectile, and loaded in five sets of four loads. Each set has a different weight of powder, up to maximum. These sets are fired at a range to determine the most accurate. The client can shoot these loads himself, or for a fee, P.R.S. can do the testing.
P.R.S. has a full ballistics laboratory for testing rifle, pistol and shotgun loads, for those requesting this service. Loads are chronographed and pressure tested in the client’s firearm.These results are more relevant than using a universal receiver. Full internal and external ballistics reports are printed for the client. The pressure is tested using a commercial strain gauge instrument imported from the U.S.A. Velocities are measured on an Oehler35p proof screen chronograph. The screens are set on a 4ft beam with an accuracy of plus and minus 1fps. Two chronographs are used to determine the true ballistic coefficient of the projectile used in the client’s loads and firearm.
P.R.S. has the most accurate scope mounting and sighting-in system available. P.R.S. has developed a laser scope alignment system. (This system does NOT pass a laser dot through the bore.) This aligns the vertical element of the crosshair exactly through the centre of the bore. Accuracy of less than one degree is possible. Without this alignment it is virtually impossible for a rifle to be accurate over all ranges. People who demand the best accuracy use this service, and often ask P.R.S. to sight-in and test their rifle for them.
P.R.S. offers a full firearm accurising service, which includes glass bedding, pillar bedding, trigger adjustment, bolt lug lapping plus much more, by a qualified gunsmith.
An ammunition accurising service is also available for those demanding the best. The brass is reprocessed to exacting standards. P.R.S. works within plus and minus 0.001inch and weights within plus and minus 0.1grain. Very accurate Mitutoyo micrometers and calipres are used. A microprocessor programmable digital powder thrower and scales is used. All powder is double weighed and verified using another laboratory standard digital scale. Bullet runout and alignment is also checked after each round is completed. Rounds outside plus or minus 0.002inch are rejected.
P.R.S. specialises in loading European calibres, to C.I.P. standards. Most American manufacturers drastically download European calibres, yet in most cases these calibres will outperform anything the U.S. has developed. An 8X57JS U.S. load is loaded with a very heavy 170gr bullet at 2300fps, P.R.S. loads a 150gr projectile to 2850fps, that will challenge anything in the 30-06 Springfield. The rifle has then been taken from 30-30 Win performance to that of a 30-06 Springfield.
